About Me

My
Story - a Novel

When I was younger I loved all things beauty! I wanted to work at a makeup counter at the mall. It inspired me to go to beauty school, at the age of 16. I thought - maybe they'll hire me if I have that license! School proved to be a challenge because I wasn't interested in doing Hair and, at the time, there was only one license - Cosmetologist. I really tried! (and I COULD... I just didn't love it) I found that I really enjoyed doing Artificial nails and, even more, I found skin care to be intriguing and challenging. There was SO MUCH to know and learn.

I left Cosmetology with only 600 hours and went on to work in the Entertainment Industry, in Phoenix, Arizona, for a decade. Beauty was, obviously at the center of that so I decided to go back and complete my Nail Tech (Mancurist) license in 2005. I was not good at artificial nails. It took such a long time and was so finnicky! Thankfully, I had learned from the Estheticians I went to school with how intuitive I really was with Skin Care, Waxing and Esthetics as a whole.

In 2007 I went back and completed my Esthetician Licensing as well as a number of Post Graduate Certifications including: Advanced Acne Treatments, Eyelash Extensions, Lymphatic Drainage, Advanced Chemical Treatments for Compromised Skin and Reflexology. Eyelash Extensions and Waxing quickly became my true love!

Shortly after licensing I moved back to the Seattle area and spent nearly a decade working in all positions as a Professional Esthetician, I became a manager at nearly every Spa/Salon I worked at and decided it was time to put on the hat of a Business Owner.

I opened The Beauty Lab in 2013 and shortly after, I received my Master Esthetician Certification with Washington State, permitting me to use deeper Chemical Peels, Lasers and other Clinical Modalities. Through this journey of ownership, I experienced a number of obstacles not limited to Covid. We did our best to survive but it was so difficult, given the nature of the situation.

Long story short, I left beauty for a short time but have found that I never truly let it go. I have had incredible clients who have supported me and still share their beautiful faces, lashes and lives with me for 15+ years and with their encouragement, I came back to what I consider home. All this time, I have and always be The Original Lash Nerd (and Skin Geek but I don't need 2 Instagrams). If you made it this far, through my riveting story, thank you! I'm excited to meet you and help you feel like the beautiful human you truly are.

See Ya Soon :)
